Education Connection Reading Mentor
Good News has partnered with Winkley Elementary to make a difference in the lives of children. One of the ways you can help is something that requires only a 30 minute commitment one day a week…and for that little time, statistic show that you can be a vital part in helping a child struggling with reading to become a successful reader. Can you read to a child for 15 minutes? Can you listen to a child read to you for 15 minutes? Then you can do this!! To find out more or ask about other ways you can help out, please, contact Lavenda Elmer, the Campus Coordinator for Winkley
Although we have adopted Winkley Elementary, we are participating in a district wide program with Hill Country Ministries. We could use, more importantly the children at school, could use as many as are willing! To participate in the Literacy Program (Tutoring), you have to register as a volunteer with LISD (even if you registered last year) and you have to register with Hill Country Bible Church for the training. The link where both of these can be done is http://www.hcbc.com/in-the-city/education/
Thanks for your willingness to serve. If you know of someone else (church member, other family, friends, etc.) that would like to participate in this program, please forward this email to them.
