Good News Preschool Staff

Suzi Simmons
Director

My name is Suzi Simmons and I have been with Good News Preschool as a teacher, an assistant director, and now as the school’s full-time director.  I am thrilled to take on this new position for the 2017-2018 school year.  Our school has the most amazing staff, students and families, and it is truly an honor to work here!

A little bit about me:  I am a native Austinite.  I graduated from Westwood High School and I earned both my undergraduate degree and my Masters of Arts in Teaching degree from Trinity University in San Antonio.  After college, I taught at the elementary level in Pflugerville ISD and Round Rock ISD.  I took a break from teaching when I was blessed with my first child, however I did go back to school online to earn my Nutrition Therapist certificate from the Nutrition Therapy Institute while I was a stay-at-home mom.
After 10 years of staying home I re-entered the workforce when my youngest child started Kindergarten.  I was a substitute teacher in Leander ISD.  I had a brief break from working when I was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2014.  God gave me tremendous strength during my cancer battle, and in 2015 with a healthy cancer-free body I went back to work, this time as a preschool teacher at the fabulous Good News Preschool!

Outside of Good News Preschool I can be found spending time with my two wonderful daughters Katie (13) and Angie (9) and my husband Brian, who was my college sweetheart.  We love to travel, hike, and watch our girls sports/dance activities.  I also love reading, crafts, exercising, and playing with my dogs!

Wendy Becker
4/5 Year Old Lead Teacher
(M-F)

Wendy and her family are originally from Arizona, but moved to Texas from Oregon in 2013. She enjoys the thrilling rollercoaster ride of marriage alongside her loving and adventurous husband, Thon. Together they are having fun exploring Texas with their two sons Kayin (2000), and Jaden (2003).

She loves to spend quality time with her friends, family and neighbors enjoying various indoor and outdoor activities such as game or movie nights, hiking, bicycle rides, BBQ’s, and all types of parks. She also can be discovered reading, crafting, singing, dancing, and baking.

Her journey of becoming a Preschool Teacher started at the age of nineteen, while she worked as an Assistant Preschool Teacher. During this time, she became passionate about teaching in her own classroom one day. When her sons were younger, she stayed home and continued to be involved in their early childhood and elementary education by volunteering in their classrooms, assisting the office staff, and serving on the boards of the Mom’s Club, PTA, PTC, and Cub Scouts.
As for her education, she is currently attending Austin Community College to further her career in Early Childhood Education and Development.

Wendy believes in nurturing each child’s authentic self by guiding them to wonder about the world around them, explore the answers to thousands of questions, imagine all possibilities, and to master the essential skills needed on their own journeys. She is delighted to begin a new adventure with all your Families!
